Turn your Wall into a Work of Art using these Techniques
- On July 1, 2017
So you’re all so excited about designing your own room. Probably you have an idea of how you want the ambiance to be – soothing, classy, chic and dainty, minimalist, urban, or what have you. You’re so fired up to release the artist in you but you have one problem. You don’t have any idea how to begin!
Well, don’t worry. You’re not alone. There are tons of guys and girls out there who know exactly what they want, but can’t figure out how to jumpstart their wall art project. It’s our pleasure to share with you some techniques on how to design your room and turn it into the place you’ve imagined it to be.
The Abstract Brush Project
You might be wondering what this means. Should you get any kind of brush from the handyman store and stroke it over your wall in an aimless motion? Well, almost. Except that you should do a little planning before you go ahead and be your own kind of Picasso.
Know the right kind of paint to apply on the surface of your room or you’ll end up wondering why it doesn’t look so right. Once you know the proper paint type, get small, medium, and large brushes that you can find on your garage or buy from a shop. For the color, white and black really works for an abstract painting. But you can choose other shades and tones too, depending on the mood you want to have for your room.
The different brush sizes will create an uneven look on your wall that makes up for an irregular appearance of an abstract art. One thing to note though, it’s best to have borders, instead of painting your whole wall in all directions.
Let the Kids Do It
When you let the kids paint your wall, you’re not just allowing them to have a great time, but you’re also making a memorable wall design with a sentimental value that will increase over time.
A tip though. Don’t let the kids paint the whole wall. Plaster tape the corners to make a border. It depends on your how thick you want the borders to be. This will frame the kids artwork perfectly.
But keep in mind that this useful idea will be best applied if you’ve done the painting preparation properly. Seek the help of professional painters who won’t charge you a fortune for the painting preparation if you’re not knowledgeable about the technicalities and intricacies involved therein.
Spatula Madness
If you haven’t noticed yet, a lot of modern painting artists use spatula palette knives for their canvas paintings. But you can also use them for your residential interior walls. The spatula knives create a rough and highly decorative texture that’s perfect for virtually all parts of your house.
You can absolutely release your artistic side using this technique because it also works well with pretty much all colors. If you want to shrink the room and make it dimmer, choose vibrant and dark colors. If you want a wall that fits antique furniture well, choose natural or earth tones. Totally depends on you.
Projector Painting
This is a modern, genius, and interesting way of painting your wall accurately. A literal visual projector that you use for reports is what we’re talking about. If you’re not good enough to imitate the wall mural designs you see in your favorite interior design site, then use this technique.
Projection painting is a must-try only if you have a capable projector that will clearly define the details on your wall. If you have one, then print your desired design immediately and fire away. While doing the projection technique, you only need to draw the outline on your wall and paint the rest of the details with the colors of your choice. Play around and make it personalized!
