Toilet clogging
No bathroom problem is more common than a clogged toilet. We often encounter toilet bowl choke almost every day when we are called to solve a home plumbing problem. Toilet clogging can have so many reasons behind it but the most prevalent one would be dumping tissue paper and wet ones in the toilet. This is highly discouraged so you must have an easy-to-reach trash bin inside the restroom so that bathroom users won’t be tempted to flush junk in the toilet.
Clogged pipes
As we all know, every bathroom has a drainage system that dictates the disposal of waste water from the house to the sewers. This waste water travels through plumbing pipes but when these pipes are clogged, the waste water will not only be stuck in the pipes but will go back up to the surface of the toilet bowl.
Faulty toilet flushing system
Sometimes, the problem is not clogging but a malfunctioning part of the toilet bowl’s flush. This is a simple problem. Unfortunately, most homeowners are not aware of how the components of the flush work. It can be solved by simply opening the tank of the flush and inspecting if it’s working properly. Some homeowners don’t know how the flushing system works so they choose to call on a pro just to find out what the cause is.
Sewer backflow
Another reason for a toilet flood is a clogged or problematic sewer line which causes a backflow. A sewer backflow is that plumbing phenomenon where the waste water goes up to the toilet bowl instead of down to the sewers. This is a horrible scenario because the wastes that are supposed to be flushed will instead come up and come out of the toilet bowl.
Ways to prevent it
Replace your plumbing fittings diligently
The solution can be as simple as knowing the last time that you replaced your plumbing fittings like the toilet bowl and the components inside. When you have this information, you can more or less estimate when you need to replace them. You won’t be surprised by any slow draining of water in the toilet bowl because you know that it has been there for a long time. So when something wrong happens with your toilet bowl, you can easily identify that there is a possible material that clogs the fixture. You can then apply remedies that will unclog your toilet bowl.
Get regular inspection
It’s always best to have a professional plumber coming to your place at least once a year to check the integrity of your plumbing fixtures. These pros can do a thorough checking of all the plumbing pipes, fittings, and fixtures in your house to see if something needs to be repaired or replaced.
Our Experience
In our over two decades of experience as professional hdb Singapore plumbers, we’ve noticed that only a few homeowners get regular plumbing inspection for their property. This is the main reason why they are often surprised when their fixtures break down. They don’t have an idea that their home plumbing system is too old and it needs to be repaired or replaced.
